The RSPB and the WWT have teamed up with a number of sustainable drainage experts to produce a guide entitled “Sustainable Drainage – Maximising the potential for people and wildlife“.

The guide recognises the wide range of benefits that can be delivered by the use of SuDS as a method of managing surface water using a catchment approach – particularly the benefits to wildlife and communities.

The document includes information on the type of SuDS components that can be used, photographs and graphics depicting SuDS components and even some advice on suggested planting and maintenance regimes to support the creation of habitats for a range of creatures, including birds.

The guide is available for download here.
